Animal welfare
In WildLife Park Europe animals are the primary factor; they share centre stage with the desire to maintain the site’s nature conservation value and develop new aspects of that value. Griendtsveen is very committed to promoting the animals’ interests and protecting their welfare. To facilitate these aims, the FOUNDATION FOR ANIMAL WELFARE AT WILDLIFE PARK EUROPE has been set up.
The Foundation’s board is independent of the commercial operation of the park and performs a formal supervisory role. Its remit includes charitable and educational tasks and tasks that promote animal welfare.
The objectives of the Foundation for Animal Welfare
- Maintaining the quality of the animal population
- Fostering the WildLife context through a diversity of biotopes
- Preserving European animal species
- Providing education about original European animal species
- Managing the welfare of the animals as well as any reduction in numbers if animal welfare is in jeopardy
The Foundation has ANBI status (a non-profit institution that serves the public interest) and will also be raising funds for the aims listed above.

Code of Ethics and Animal Welfare
The Code of Ethics and Animal Welfare represents the common ground on which Wilipre bases its human managed wildlife and conservation activities.
Actions taken will be in the context of species survival, without compromising individual welfare. Animal acquisition and disposition policies are covered with discussion of the realities of population management. In collections, where disease and food shortages do not occur, breeding programs have the potential to produce a surplus. Wilipre will consider transfer to other accredited institutions, release into semi-reserves or release to the wild as part of a coordinated conservation program. Wilipre will be using the breed and cull system to secure healthy populations and natural behavior of our wildlife in which a quick, painless, stress-free death will be secured
Wilipre will follow ethical principles and maintain the highest standards of animal welfare in order to establish and sustain viable populations of healthy animals for conservation purposes and to convey credible conservation messages to the public.
To secure this approach the WildLife Europe Animal Welfare Trust has a super visionary role.
